Rome, Italy
The Eternal City, or the ‘Caput Mundi’ (The Capital of the World) as the Ancient Romans sometimes referred to it, continues to fascinate people with its mix of ancient and baroque architecture, vibrant – and sometimes hectic – atmosphere that will forever stay in your memory.
Points of interest: Describing the list of sites and attractions in Rome is an almost impossible task. In addition to the iconic Colosseum, The Roman Forum and the Pantheon, there are many less-known but fabulous sites, such as the Pyramid of Cestius, Basilica Santa Pudenziana, and some of the many smaller churches and basilicas scattered throughout the city.
When to visit: Rome can be scorching hot and crowded during the summer, so it’s best you avoid the high season (July and August). The city is ideal to visit from October to April.
