One of the ways the human folk has developed to appreciate ourselves is by presenting awards for every achievement. Of this different types of awards, the ones with the most publicity are those in entertainment, sciences, and arts respectively. Today, we present you with the most popular awards in the world.

Pulitzer Prize

Named after Joseph Pulitzer, This United States awards cuts across different fields’ such as writing, journalism, and music. It was first awarded in 1917

MTV Video Music Awards

This award by the music television channel (MTV) was established in 1984. Madonna has 69 nominations and 19 wins and is currently the highest awardee of the MTV Video Music Awards.

BRIT Awards

The BRIT awards started in 1977 and were dedicated for exceptional musicians. Robbie Williams, with fifteen wins, four of which he got as a member of “Take That” is the highest awardee on the BRIT awards.

Grammy Award

This is another US music award, and it started in 1959. Sir George Solti dominates the Grammy award with 38 Grammys in classical music, Stevie Wonder has 22 Grammys in Popular Music, and Beyoncé has five Grammys in different categories all won in 2013.

Palme d’Or (Cannes Film Festival)

This is a major award ceremony which holds during the Cannes Film festival in Cannes, southern France. It started in 1955.

Golden Globe Awards

The Golden Globe awards held in the US since inception in 1943. The top awardees are Tom Hanks who won four of six nominations and Julia Roberts who won three of five nominations.

BAFTA Awards

The BAFTA awards started in 1947, and the highest awardee is British Actress Judi Dench with eight awards for various film and television roles.
