Disability is not inability” goes the saying but how true is this? These celebrities are those who have gone ahead to prove to the whole world that their disability has no say in their career success and fame.

1.    Lady Gaga

Born Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta, and professionally referred to as Lady Gaga; she is an American singer, actress, and songwriter who is dynamic with her styles of music and acting.

She only recently revealed she has fibromyalgia which is a long-term medical condition characterized by general body pain, fatigue, and muscle stiffness. There is currently no permanent cure to the disease except for treatments to alleviate the symptoms.

2.    Andrea Bocelli

Of Italian origin, this musician, tenorist, writer, and music producer with over 75million sales record and a law degree don’t seem to have it all yet. He is blind due to congenital glaucoma he was born with and a blow to the eye at age 12. Although blind, he has several awards of international respect and a beach named after him in the Adriatic.

3.    Marlee Matlin

This American born star became deaf at just 18 months of age when she lost total hearing in the right ear and 80% hearing in the left. She believes this to be due to a genetic malformation of the cochlea.

Despite this, she has appeared in a long list of films, and TV shows not excluding Desperate Housewives and Quantico with has several awards to her name.

4.    Michael J. Fox

In 1991, Michael J. Fox was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease at the age of 29 and his career peak. He had to step back from the stage leading him through a bout of depression and alcoholism due to his inability to accept the illness. He currently helps create awareness and keeps finding a cure through the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.

5.    Sudha Chandran

Sudha is an Indian actress and dancer who lost her leg in a road accident at 16 years of age, she returned to dancing two years later with the aid of a prosthetic limb and started acting in Mayuri, which is an account of her life story. She proceeded to feature in some films, TV shows, and a reality dance competition. She has danced in several countries of the world, and young school children in India have to study her story has part of the curriculum
