While 2017 has been a very successful year for the gaming industry, 2018 so far has exceeded the expectations of gamers around the world with super popular titles such as Kingdom Come: Deliverance, Far Cry 5 and Monster Hunter: World all coming out in the first quarter of the year.
The remainder of 2018 promises new excitements for gamers, as some of the old and well-known franchises are set to return with new titles alongside brand new games that could redefine their genre.
We bring you the list of ten most anticipated PC games to watch for in 2018.
State of Decay 2
Who doesn’t love a good zombie apocalypse? State of Decay, however, is much more than a mere hack and slash game where your only goal is to kill as many monsters as possible.
Developed by Undead Labs and published by Microsoft Studios, State of Decay was released in 2013 and was praised for its emphasis on leadership skills, a good storyline, and complex characters.
What we know so far that State of Decay 2 is set to be released in May for Windows. As with the first installment, the game will focus on survival skills and include a co-op multiplayer mode.
Call of Duty Modern Warfare Remastered
Last year, Microsoft released a definitive edition of Age of Empires, remastering one of the most famous RTS games of all time for the 4K gaming generation.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is not as old as Age of Empires (it was released back in 2009), but would certainly benefit from major graphics improvement that could breathe new life into one of the best first-person shooters games ever made.
Crackdown 3
Crackdown 3 has been in the making for quite some time now and is set for release in the upcoming months.
A classic superhero action-adventure, it lets you step into the shoes of a crime-fighting agent whose main task is to dismantle a criminal network by targeting gang bosses in a futuristic city called New Providence. The game will use a new system in which makes it harder for the player carry out his mission.
Crackdown will be released on PC and Xbox.
Total War: Three Kingdoms
The Creative Assembly announced Three Kingdoms in January this year, with the release being scheduled for autumn.
Total War games are a must for everyone who loves turn-based strategies, even though some of the more recent titles such as Rome 2 have met with criticism from fans.
For the first time in a Total War game, players will have the chance to fight in ancient China, during the chaotic period of conflict between various feudal rulers.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 4
According to the latest information, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, will focus on the multiplayer mode and won’t have a standard single-player campaign.
While this information is still unconfirmed, Black Ops 4 could potentially redefine the Call of Duty franchise.
Blacks Ops 4 is set to be released on October 12 on PC, Xbox and PlayStation 4.
The Elder Scrolls Online: Summerset
As the release of a new Elder Scrolls game still remains far in the future, fans of the franchise have plenty to look forward to, as ZeniMax announced the latest expansion for The Elder Scrolls Online which open up a huge new area for exploration.
This time, you will get the chance to explore the Summerset Isle, as well as a brand new storyline and characters.
Summerset Isle will be released on June 5 on PC, PS 4 and Xbox One.
Vampyr
Scheduled for a release in June, Vampyr takes the player to the gloomy streets of post-WWI London ravaged by the Spanish Flu Pandemic.
The player character, Jonathan Reid has recently been turned into a vampire and faces a choice of either preying on innocent humans for survival or trying to use his abilities to find a cure for the devastating disease.
Developed by France-based Dontnod Entertainment, Vampyr will be released on PC, PS4, and Xbox.
Ashes of Creation
The game developers described the Ashes of Creation as MMORPG “with innovative sandbox concepts’. The game is set in a classic medieval fantasy world but one where civilization has collapsed so one of main your aims will be to build new or re-discover cities that have fallen into decay.
While the release date is still pretty far away (December 2018), Ashes of Creation promises a lot of content and new possibilities for players who like to combine city building with RPG.
Tropico 6
Just like all the previous titles in the Tropico franchise, the game puts you in the shoes of a dictator ruling over a remote island country.
Tropico is basically a city-builder, but there are a lot of options you will have at your disposal, including politics and trade.
